Definitely agree with the fourth point — that you should define a clear path to a raise — but believe that instead of using a floor to set a minimum walk away point you should start with a range that is based on market research to define your value. That way, if you rely on the employer to set the value of the position, without reference to what you’re bringing, you won’t ever fully what your talents are worth in the free market.
